Before I took part in the Expedition through the Arctic, I had lived by a schedule. In the Arctic you lose sense of time. Having 24 hours of sunlight we could start our hiking at what we thought was 3 PM but it was actually 3 AM.
Our entire being was focused on one thing: survival.

I have long engaged in his problem. At first I had to be disinfected, and then put a bandage on the bleeding site. I warmed him and his mind was clear that he was pleased. After everyone else woke up and we fed him. It remained still for a long time, then, we sent him back to his relatives. But before he was out of sight, it seemed to me as he rolled a tear. I have long missed him. We then flew away. But he told me a long time remained in the memory. I realized that animals can feel.
