А Trip To the Other Side of the Globe

Лукашова Полина Александровна. 11 лет. А Trip To the Other Side of the Globe. LOW.

Snowy is a little polar bear cub. He lives in the northern Arctic with his family. Mummy bear, Daddy bear and Snowy can see ice and snow everywhere every day. They like swimming from ice floe to ice floe and digging holes in snow banks.
One day Snowy says, "I’m tired of this ice and snow. I’m going to live where I can see something quite different."
"But your home is here! Look!
The snowflakes are dancing in the air! They are so beautiful! Listen to the snow! It’s humming a very funny song, "scoosh-scoosh, scoosh-scoosh", his mother tells him.
"Nothing can stop me", answers Snowy. "I’m packing my things and ...

he suddenly slipped on a fish skin and fell into a snow hole. He was falling and falling till he landed smoothly on something very soft and pleasant. Snowy opened his eyes and found himself in the jungle full of sunshine and birds’ singing. He could hardly believe his eyes. “Where am I? What’s happened?” asked little Snowy himself. At that moment he saw a funny creature holding something bright and round in its tiny furry paw. “Welcome to our fairyland! Help yourself!” said the strange creature. “But it doesn’t look like fish. We, polar bears, eat nothing but fish”, answered Snowy. “Oh, poor thing! It’s a ripe orange. By the way, my name is Micky. I’m a monkey and I’m the king of the jungle. All animals obey me!”, boasted the monkey. All of a sudden Snowy and Micky heard a hair-raising sound. The monkey started trembling like a leaf and hid in the depth of the forest. Snowy stayed alone and couldn’t move. A big lion appeared out of the bush and came up to the little bear. The lion was followed by a lot of exotic animals: zebras, elephants, giraffes, red bears, wolves and foxes. Snowy had never seen so many colorful skins and furs. “What are you doing here and why is your fur so white?” asked the Lion. “I’m a polar bear and I have come from the North but I don’t understand how it all happened ”, replied Snowy. “Poor, little creature”, said the Lion. “It’s hard for a polar bear to survive in the jungle”. “You’re right. In my home land nobody can tell me apart from snow. I’m hot, I’m hungry and thirsty. Now I see that there is nothing like home. I wish I had listened to my wise parents. How much I miss them now!” cried Snowy. “Calm down, my dear! We’ll help you!” promised the Lion. He roared loudly and a huge eagle flew down to his big paws. “Sit down on the back of the eagle and he will take you home in no time”, ordered the King of the jungle. “Thanks a lot. East or West, home is best”, confessed Snowy and waved his paw back to the animals.
