There is no place like home

Хасина Илона. 11 лет. There is no place like home. LOW.

Snowy is a little polar bear cub. He lives in the northern Arctic with his family. Mummy bear, Daddy bear and Snowy can see ice and snow everywhere every day. They like swimming from ice floe to ice floe and digging holes in snow banks.
One day Snowy says, "I’m tired of this ice and snow. I’m going to live where I can see something quite different."
"But your home is here! Look!
The snowflakes are dancing in the air! They are so beautiful! Listen to the snow! It’s humming a very funny song, "scoosh-scoosh, scoosh-scoosh", his mother tells him.
"Nothing can stop me", answers Snowy. "I’m packing my things and ...

… leaving for some other interesting places. The little bear went away. His mummy cried when she saw he had gone. But snowy didn’t hear her crying. He went to foreign unknown lands. He didn’t think about his motherland, his own mum and everything around him. He only thought about his future life. Snowy’s tracks became paler and paler. It was snowing. It got colder. Snowy’s skin didn’t warm him any more. His paws drowned in the snow. He went further and fell into the blanket of snow. He was lying and soon his little ears and his tiny black nose were only seen through the snow. He was very hungry. Snowy remembered as his mummy had caught tasty fat fish. He remembered how that fish jumped in his paws and how he ate it quickly after its funny dance. After such wonderful dreams the little bear broke out from the snow trap and began looking for some food but there was nothing to eat. Suddenly he remembered his mother’s words: “You’ll get cold and you’ll be very hungry if you leave your home. Some wild animals and birds can make you harm.” Snowy was too sad to continue his way. He stopped and began crying. “Mummy, where are you? How can I find you?” and the wind brought mummy’s voice: “I’m here…” This wind flew into Snowy’s heart and went away. Before the sunset he saw a tiny point at the horizon. When he came up closer to this object he saw a small house and a tall man near it. The man was doing something on his lap, he was repairing his skis. The man saw the little bear and understood that the cub needed his help. He took Snowy into his house. The kind man gave him some milk, fish and a piece of whale fat. When Snowy was full and warm the man put him into his car and they left for the place where the bear was born. They were driving for a long time. Some time later Snowy heard his mummy’s voice. It was the same voice he had heard in the wind. But now these were her real words. He couldn’t believe his eyes and ears. “Mummy, I’m here! Don’t vanish!”- he cried. The man stopped his car and the happy little bear ran to his dear mummy. That day was the happiest one in the life of the family of the polar bears. Snowy promised not to escape any more. Several years later he became an adult bear, he had his own children and he told them about his foolish trip to nowhere. His children knew that their home was the best place to live and grow.
