Before I took part in the Expedition through the Arctic, I had lived by a schedule. In the Arctic you lose sense of time. Having 24 hours of sunlight we could start our hiking at what we thought was 3 PM but it was actually 3 AM.
Our entire being was focused on one thing: survival.
That day or night (I can’t say for sure) I was on polar bear watch while the others were sleeping.
I didn’t have to fall asleep so I looked outside for some fresh air and came face to face with a ...

..snowman.
He was about two metres tall, he didn`t wear any clothes and was covered with grey hair all over his body. He was half-man and half-ape. I couldn`t understand, why he had a cowboy hat on and where he had got a mobile phone. Before I rubbed my eyes and he had gone.

After a few minutes I saw a group of French scientists led by an old man.
The old man asked me if I had seen a high gorilla with his mobile phone and a cowboy hat.
In fact, this seventy-three-year-old Doctor told me that he had been hunting Yalma as he called him for over twenty years.
"What a thieving monkey," - I thought. I didn`t tell them about the thief. I only smiled and said there was no one there. Scientists went away.
In a minute the snowman appeared again and gave me the mobile phone.
But he was not going to give me his new hat.
I noticed that he was so handsome in it.
